Chrome, I Really Want to Love You

Google Chrome LogoIt seems that with new technology, there are always little bugs and crashes that are just a part of the overall user experience. On one hand it’s extremely frustrating to endure these little episodes of “My software doesn’t work” but on the other it really is the price of innovation. After all if things worked perfectly that would mean they would never need to be changed, improved, and upgraded. What kind of world is that?

So the point of this brief ode to Google is to highlight that while I really love Chrome – LOVE Chrome – I’m getting more than a little frustrated (second time I’ve used the word) with the little caching problems and what one can only assume to be security issues. Let me explain:

Firstly, when I’m reading my favorite hockey team’s website (www.flyers.nhl.com) on Chrome, the blog never shows updated posts until I clear the cache and delete the cookies. Channeling Microsoft much Google? This is not an isolated issue with just this website either, just the most vexing for me for obvious reasons.

Secondly, I have experience constant redirects to different websites like Yahoo.com or Google.com when attempting to access sites like the aforementioned NHL site or even the giant Twitter. I have to admit I do not know the exact root of the problem, but when I use other browsers and these sites are easily accessible one can only assume that it’s a problem isolated to the Chrome web browser. Given the nature of this particular issue I would have to guess that it’s a security problem.

Although I don’t know the cause of these issues I am not happy. However (and this is directed to Google Chrome) I still love you. You are fast, clean, and a whole lot of fun to use. Please don’t make me break up with you.
